The IBEW Local 5 RENEW Program brings members together to serve the community through volunteer projects, food drives, and most importantly, to support retired brothers and sisters.
Established in October 2016, the RENEW Program has continued to grow in both membership and impact. Through service projects and outreach, members actively strengthen their communities while building a shared sense of purpose, fulfillment, and connection.
One of the most popular RENEW initiatives among members has been the Amped-Up Assistance program, which aims to support retired Local 5 members with household projects. Giving back to Local 5 retirees and those who paved the way shows that Local 5 is a strong brotherhood that takes care of our own.
Volunteering is not the only fulfilling part of RENEW; in fact, many brothers and sisters have found that through the program, they have connected with other Local 5 members in ways they typically would not.
Members interested in getting involved with RENEW are encouraged to attend monthly meetings and participate in volunteer projects. While the program focuses on younger members, anyone who wants to contribute is welcome. Experienced members, in particular, play an important role as mentors to the next generation and are also invited to join the fun at the annual cornhole tournament.
